It sounds like a horrible idea to me, but a few reports are now suggesting that Apple may be introducing a “champagne gold” case option with the introduction of the iPhone 5S. The new research note, which comes from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, suggests that this new gold option will be in addition to Apple’s traditional black and white colors, and that the iPhone 5S might also be the first iPhone model to offer a 128 GB storage option.
We also forecast the new model will add a new look, a golden casing, and a new option for larger 128GB storage, to offer greater differentiation from iPhone 5.
Kuo also echoed other recent rumors regarding the iPhone 5S, stating that the device will indeed be shipping with an Apple A7 processor. This chip, which is reportedly 64 bit (a change over previous A-series ARM chips), will be more “efficient” according to Kuo.
We reckon A7 will upgrade memory bandwidth spec to LPDDR3 from LPDDR2 adapted by A6, in an effort to improve system performance. Since Apple is in charge of both hardware and OS design, it is capable of minimalizing memory capacity at an optimized state. Therefore, A7’s RAM will likely be unchanged at 1GB.
The iPhone 5S, which is slated to be announced at an upcoming Apple event on September 10th, will feature a dual-LED flash, an 8 MP camera, a sapphire home button with fingerprint sensor, and other internal changes.
