Apple has updated its Apple Store app for the iPhone and iPod touch this afternoon. The update brings the app, which allows you to browse through and shop in the company’s massive web store, to version 2.5.
Unfortunately, there’s still no iPad version. But today’s release does include a few changes that will improve the app’s shopping experience, with new shipping and pickup options. Full change log after the fold…
What’s new in version 2.5:
- New delivery options make it even more convenient to get your Apple products. Choose different shipping options for different items in an order. - An even easier way to see if the product you want is available for pickup at your favorite Apple Retail Store (U.S. only).
Admittedly, I don’t have much use for the first item—I rarely have multiple items in the same order that require different shipping methods—but the new ‘check to see if available for pickup’ view is extremely handy.
The Apple Store app has come a long way in the past year. In addition to the iterative enhancements, Apple also added an awesome ‘EasyPay’ feature last year that lets you pay for accessories in-store without a clerk.
So if you haven’t used it in a while, you should check it out. It’s available in the App Store for free.
