The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple this quarter begins with the production of the next generation iPhone. An introduction this summer is therefore feasible, possibly in August. The new iPhone has the same size and shape as the current iPhone 5, as expected.
Also, a faster chip and an improved camera sensor in it. The Wall Street Journal, which are usually well aware of Apple’s plans, writes:
Apple Inc.. AAPL +1.09% plans to start production of a new iPhone similar in size and shape to its current one in the second quarter of the year, accordion thing to people familiar with the device’s production, teeing up a possibleness summer launch for the next version of its flagship device.
Insiders who are aware of the production plans have told the newspaper. Simultaneously, Apple is working with partners in Asia to make a cheaper iPhone to be released in the market the second half of 2013, stated sources. Apple is reportedly testing a plastic housing in multiple colors. The unit will feature a 4-inch screen, like the iPhone 5. But there is still much uncertainty about this unit.
