BBM Expected to Launch on Android By the End of September

BlackBerry Messenger is expected to launch on Android within the next two months, according to Sunil Lalvani, managing director for BlackBerry India.

In an interview with IBN Live, Lalvani reiterated statements made by BlackBerry that confirm BBM will arrive on the Google platform this summer, and quickly added that summer in North America extends until September. 

While expanding its secure messaging services to competing platforms could prove successful for BlackBerry, it is also one of the only exclusive features that may have been keeping loyal BlackBerry users from changing camps. Now that BBM will soon be available on both Android and iOS devices, BlackBerry could see its subscriber base decline even further. Only time will tell.
