BlackBerry Messenger is launching on iOS and Android before the end of the summer, and the company is now sending beta invites to certain people through its Beta Zone program.

A large majority of smartphone users now have iPhones or Android devices with iMessage or Google Hangouts, and then there are apps like WhatsApp, Viber and Kik Messenger.

For that reason, I suspect it could be too late for BBM to really make a splash in the messaging market on iPhone and Android. Do you agree?
